Amstelkerk
Amsterdam, The Netherlands

  • June 3, 1877

On Sunday 3 June 1877, Vincent visited the well-known Amstelkerk on the square Amstelveld. His Uncle Stricker gave a sermon there at 10 a.m. on the biblical passage “what is seen is transitory, but what is unseen is eternal.” Vincent had already heard an early (7 a.m.) sermon that morning at another local church, probably the Noorderkerk, Zuiderkerk or Nieuwezijds chapel.
