Salon des Indépendants
Paris, France

  • August 20, 1886 - September 21, 1886

Vincent probably went to the second Exposition de la Société des Artistes Indépendants. Although he did not write about the exhibition directly in his letters, we can assume he probably visited it, since he was deeply interested in contemporary art and it was one of the major shows of the day. Other important Impressionist exhibitions he likely saw were the Ve exposition internationale de peinture et sculpture at Georges Petit’s gallery (15 June–15 July 1886) and the eighth Exposition de Peinture Impressioniste (15 May–15 June 1886).
